Many think banoffee pie must be an American dessert, but it was actually invented at the Hungry Monk Restaurant in East Sussex in 1971, and it hasn’t looked back since.
Rumour has it the pie is a favourite at both Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street, and the word has made its way into the dictionary as “a pie or tart made with toffee, bananas, and cream”.
Our own recipe has been so popular we’ve decided to give it away so you can have a crack at making this English modern classic at home.
